dealiiX Consortium Meets in Munich to Review Progress in High-Performance Simulation

Categories events, news

From tissue modelling and cardiac simulation to GPU programming and exascale computing, the dealiiX consortium gathered in Garching bei München, Germany, on 6–8 October 2026 for an in-person workshop focused on scientific advances, software development, and the progress achieved throughout the project.

The three-day meeting combined two days of scientific presentations and tutorials with a final day dedicated to consortium discussions, working groups, and planning. As dealiiX nears the end of its project, the workshop offered an opportunity to share recent developments across the consortium, discuss ongoing challenges, and reflect on the work its partners have accomplished.

Scientific advances in modelling and high-performance computing

The programme covered advanced numerical methods for tissue modelling, including coupling algorithms, high-order discontinuous Galerkin methods, and preconditioning techniques. Other sessions explored approximate computing for brain simulations, low-code/no-code platforms for digital twin modelling, and solvers for blood flow networks.

HPC was another central theme, with presentations on GPU programming, matrix-free finite element methods, iterative solvers for exascale computing, and agentic programme development with ExaDG.

Biomedical applications included digital twins of the human liver, cardiac simulations combining physics-based modelling and scientific machine learning, and computational models for brain simulation. Together, these contributions demonstrated the range of methods, software, and applications being developed by dealiiX partners.

Looking towards project completion

The final day focused on consortium discussions, working groups, and a project summit. These sessions allowed partners to review ongoing activities, coordinate priorities, and reflect on the progress achieved throughout the project.

As dealiiX approaches its conclusion, the Munich workshop provided an opportunity to bring these developments together, exchange expertise, and discuss the remaining work towards the project’s objectives.
