The VPH – The Society for In Silico Medicine, a partner in the dealiiX project, continues to play a leading role in shaping the future of digital health in Europe through its coordination of the VHT-AI Thematic Network under the EU Health Policy Platform.
On 7 July, VPH hosted a collaborative writing session bringing together researchers, clinicians, policymakers, industry representatives, and other stakeholders to develop the Joint Statement on the responsible adoption of Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Human Twins in healthcare.
The session focused on identifying practical recommendations that can support the safe, transparent, and effective integration of these technologies into healthcare systems. Among the key priorities discussed were:
- Building trust and transparency in AI systems;
- Strengthening education and digital skills across the healthcare workforce;
- Engaging patients and society in the development and adoption of Virtual Human Twins;
- Establishing robust governance and evaluation frameworks.
The recommendations build on the EDITH-CSA Virtual Human Twin Roadmap and will contribute to a policy document intended to support European regulators, healthcare providers, and decision-makers.
As a project developing advanced computational methods for biomedical simulation, dealiiX welcomes initiatives that help create the regulatory and policy environment needed to translate scientific innovation into real-world healthcare impact.
A second collaborative writing session is scheduled for 26 August, where the next draft of the Joint Statement will continue to evolve through contributions from the European health ecosystem.
